KeyCom Associates was founded by Niall Keegan to service clients who are entering Japan and other Asian markets.

Niall has spent over 30 years in Japan, initially working as an engineer at a Japanese multinational company developing audio/video equipment.  Niall then moved into the semiconductor import and distribution business selling to and providing technical support to major manufacturers of telecoms and industrial equipment in Japan.  After 10 years in the semiconductor business, it became clear to Niall that companies entering markets in Asia needed assistance in many areas which were beyond the scope of a traditional distribution company.  Since the early 2000s, Niall has been focused on helping to address a myriad of challenges faced by clients doing business in Asian markets and working closely with them to develop the appropriate solutions.

Today Niall and his network of Associates work with clients entering Japan and other Asian markets in areas such as the following:

  • Market intelligence gathering
  • Direct in-country sales & marketing
  • Distribution channel development
  • Technical support
  • Management of joint or outsourced development projects
  • Entity establishment
  • Legal & accounting services
  • In-country directorship
  • Local hiring of key employees
  • Strategic investment & fundraising

“KeyCom Associates have been a regular provider of pathfinder consulting services to Enterprise Ireland Tokyo since 2015.  In our experience, Niall’s interventions have added real value to a number of Enterprise Ireland supported companies considering entry and scale-up in the Japanese market. It is a real asset to Enterprise Ireland and our clients to be able to draw on expertise in sectors including but not limited to Medtech, Electronics and Semiconductors. Niall’s bilingual, commercial and very professional approach is one which I am happy to endorse based on our direct experience.“

Patrick O’ Riordan, Director Japan & Korea Enterprise Ireland

“Niall and his team have been a tremendous help to Inseego as we work to launch our business in Japan.  Japan is a difficult market for any outside company looking to enter the region and Niall and team have played a critical role in navigating customers and partners in the early stages, especially when dealing with extremely technical products and services.  Without the decades of experience and relationships that Niall and team were able to provide, we would not have achieved our business objectives as quickly as we did.“

Steve Linke, VP Global Business Development, Inseego Corp

“Niall did a stellar job for HeartSine in Asia when I was CEO. He helped me refine a strategy for growing our sales of defibrillators in Asia and helped us to forge very high-level collaborations with Japanese multinationals and regulatory authorities. HeartSine has achieved huge growth in Japan. Niall had the rare ability to build strong relationships with customers, win their business and then, crucially, to follow through with our engineering, manufacturing team and me directly to ensure we didn’t screw up the opportunity. The best kind of business development guy.“

Declan O’Mahoney, former CEO Heartsine Ltd

“Niall worked with us to develop our business in multiple Asian countries over a number of years. Through his efforts, we were able to successfully win business in the extremely complex automotive sector in Japan and Korea. His work in Japan enabled Firecomms to successfully secure multiple rounds of strategic investment and custom product development funding. In China, Niall developed relationships with a wide array of players related to the optical transceiver business which ultimately lead to the sale of Firecomms Ireland to a Chinese optical fiber company based in Tongxiang, China.“
